CUPE Local 830: Charlottetown Municipal Water and Sewer Workers, have been standing strong on strike for over 90 days
They are fighting for job security, fair wages and a fair deal. The city refuses to come back to the table with solutions and continue to hire more expensive scab labour.

Local 1770 presented Local 830 with a monetary donation at the Local 830 END THE STRIKE NOW Rally on October 28, 2025. This is the third donation since the strike began in July, and Local 1770 has committed to the striker fund appeal from CUPE National to regularly support these striking workers fight for a fair deal. CUPE is strongest when all locals & sectors work together and bargain in good faith for fair deals. This strike will affect all CUPE members more than anyone understands and it is crucial we show a strong front and support Local 830!
On behalf of CUPE Local 1770, we would like to extend our gratitude for the work local 830 does for the city of Charlottetown. Many of our members live, work, or visit the city and we know when we turn on the taps, we have the best drinking water, or when an issue arises your members are there to assist in the blink of an eye. Your work is critical, and it’s time that the City of Charlottetown returns to the table in good faith.
While we do not currently have the ability to strike in our local & sector, that may change that for us someday. The goal is never to get to the point of striking, but we know that a win for one is a win for all.
In Solidarity,
Local 1770
